Job Description

We are currently looking for a Commercial Events Manager to join our Commercial Events team on a full time permanent basis.

Reporting to the Commercial Events Operations Manager, the successful applicant will be joining the Commercial Events team. Currently made up of 15 members of staff, divided into sales (4 team members) and operations (currently 8 team members), this role sits within the operations side of the department.

The Commercial Events team manages all aspects of commercial venue hires across Southbank Centre as well as cultivation/fundraising & other internal events. We're best known to be the home of the BAFTAs, BFI Film Festival and hold graduations for most of London’s top Universities.

In this exciting role the successful candidate will coordinate and manage a wide range of private hire and internal events, from corporate conferences to fundraising galas, ensuring seamless execution and outstanding client satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the entire event process, from venue booking and set-up to catering, room dressing, client liaison, and post-event follow-up.
  • Conduct site visits, provide detailed information to prospective clients, and sell our incredible event spaces, as well as offering additional services to enhance their experience.
  • Build long-term relationships with key clients, collaborating closely with colleagues from all departments to ensure the success of each event.
  • Ensure that financial data, invoicing, risk assessments, and all booking information are accurate and up-to-date in our room booking platform, Artifax. You’ll also coordinate the booking of additional services such as security and cleaning when necessary.

Key Skills & Experience:

  • Proven experience in event management, preferably within a similar sector or venue, with a strong track record in planning and executing high-quality events.
  • Budget management experience, with strong numerical skills and attention to detail.
  • An understanding of Health and Safety regulations related to events and the ability to implement them effectively.
  • Proficiency in using digital tools and systems, including Google Workspace and room booking software (Artifax experience is desirable).
